His ability was recognized alike by friend and by foe. His effort to promote reforms within the government led him to promote careers of many other reformers such as [Fuad Pasha](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuad_Pasha "Fuad Pasha") and [Mehmed Emin Ali Pasha](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehmed_Emin_Ali_Pasha "Mehmed Emin Ali Pasha").[\[1\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustafa_Reshid_Pasha#cite_note-0) In the settlement of the [Egyptian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt "Egypt") question in 1840, and during the [Crimean War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean_War "Crimean War") and the ensuing peace negotiations, he rendered valuable services to the state.
